At work
Being at Bob Finance AG transformed my world completely. Despite the Covid situation I am confident to stand up and say I grasped a lot. Working for a fast growing digital financial company was just the right pick for me. At bob Finance I joined the IT team where I worked with wonderful and knowledgeable professionals, among these was Mr. Olaf Haase my supervisor, Mr. Martin Fischer, Mr. Mehidin Mehmedovic and Mr. Yannick Weiss.
My role at work was to carry out a project to implement a new helpdesk system, which was aimed at eliminating challenges faced by the Customer Support Center team. My project involved different kinds of activities that were accomplished in sequence, Initially, I successfully understood and collected business and user requirements. Secondly, I evaluated existing solutions and pitched the most desirable one. Furthermore, I tested the solution in various environments (VM and Docker) according to the requirements. Finally, I customized the helpdesk and integrated it with various implemented UI and dashboards like mambu.
As part of my project I engaged a lot in API implementation, http requests and the used of JSON dictionaries to manipulate and transport data over the internet( application to application). In addition, I understood Coding standard best practice where I developed in consideration of other developers.
My host family
I am honored to have lived in the Abdulkadir household, it feels wrong to refer to them as a host family since they were more than that. The whole family was always there to listen and give a helping hand where necessary. Despite the fact that they lived in different locations, they made sure we met even if it meant virtually. I really appreciate the fact that they opened their door to a total stranger. They devoted their time to make sure that I had a pleasant time, I couldn’t have asked for a more better family than this.
My highlights and challenges
I was really fascinated by the beautiful views of Switzerland, I remember waking up in the morning and glance to a world of an appealing sight. The landscape of Switzerland totally took my breath away. The mountainous, tall trees and colorful rivers made me open my mouth ear to ear. The reliability of the transport system was another wonderment of my time in Switzerland, connections and availability of train was amazingly seamless.
The peace and care people have in Switzerland is something that kept me wish my country Namibia had, people work together and are more concerned about their tomorrow.
Despite the wonderful time I had in Switzerland challenges were part of my experience. The most challenging issue I had was language barriers as I really wanted to communicate and learn from different cultures but this wasn’t as easy as I wanted it to be.
My future plans
It had always been my dream to obtain a PhD in business informatics somewhere in the future, with this I will be able to educate others in my field of study. As a person fond of togetherness and peace, I plan on influencing young people to start building a new tomorrow for Namibia where an individual takes responsibility to care about each other’s wellbeing. I will give a helping hand where necessary just like I got mine from B360 education partnership.
Personal message
