AT work
I have worked at Credit Suisse in Sihlcity with my two line managers, Daniel and Tobias, everything was fascinating due to the fact that every team member gave me a warm welcome and made me a team member happy. During my first month, I had lunch with at most every team member, so delighted, shared cultural differences mostly. Concerning the work/task itself, I have been working mostly with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Of course, there were some challenges, such as understanding the team cycle (what they do for the clients), it took me a month to understand my team, and lucky there were always shadowing days for new joiners, I learned a lot about Credit Suisse through it. It was a great experience working at Credit Suisse, they gave me an understanding of the industry, and I will always appreciate that.
My Swiss Host Family
I lived in Wangen, with my host parents, Jeannette and Martin. Their number one priority was always to make sure I am fine and felt at home, they gave me a nice room with all my needs. They provided me with some winter clothes and all that I needed in wintertime. The most important thing was our dinner table, we always seat and discuss something while eating, and most Fridays we ate at our village’s restaurant, I liked it. I always get chocolates from them, that is why chocolates and cheese played a huge role in my stay in Switzerland. My family likes jokes and that made me feel more comfortable in our home. Jeannette and Martin made sure that I explored as much as I can, they took me to the Rhine Falls, the Zoo and also the mountains, it was so fascinating. No amount of words is enough to thank them, but I appreciate everything and I will never forget it.
Highlights and Challenges in Switzerland
Apart from work experience, I have got a chance to see a lot in Switzerland, I have visited a lot of places, such as Mount Rigi, Zug, Bern, Geneva, Basel, Luzern, the Rhine falls, Zurich Zoo, etc. It was a nice experience seeing all these beautiful Infrastructures and lakes plus snowy mount views, I will always remember this. I had no big challenge in Switzerland, it is just that I got bored sometimes because am used to staying with friends every day, it was a little bit difficult to cope, but I just got used to it in the first month. Neither less, everything went well for me in Switzerland and I made a lot of memories of my travels in Switzerland.
My Future Plans
They say the future is unpredictable, but yes, I have to predict/plan as an ambitious person. Due to poor financial standards, I have to study while working in the near upcoming years. My plan is to finish my degree this year and get a job. After that, I will then continue with honors and the master’s in accounting. I also have a plan of opening a business in Namibia, I see a lot of business opportunities and of course their feasibilities.
Personal Message
As an intern here in Switzerland, I have been able to learn and develop new skills in my workplace. To be honest, I have explored and seen a lot that I could have never seen should not get a chance with B360 education partnership. I would like to recommend B360 to continue taking students from Africa, as it is teaching and boosting careers. No number of words is enough to appreciate B360, Host families and the companies that made it possible for us to work here as interns. I appreciated everything, I have enjoyed it.
