at work
I was warmly welcomed by the Anti-Money Laundering Monitoring (AMLM) Team, and I enjoyed my time with them. All my colleagues were very kind from the beginning up to the end of the internship. The hospitality never faded. My mentor, buddies and other superiors always made sure that I had enough time to do my schoolwork and prepare for my tests. Even though sometimes I would have a bit of pressure to keep up with school and work, it’s fair enough for me to say I always had time for everything. At work, all the concepts were explained clearly, and I much appreciated the feedback sessions at the end of the day as they helped me reflect on the tasks that I had done and where I needed to improve.
my swiss host family
During my stay in Switzerland, I was hosted by two families, the Huber family and the Müller family. Both families were very kind and involved. The Huber family provided me with extra clothing items to use during my stay, took me to see places and helped me organize some trips. I stayed with the Müller family during my last two weeks in Switzerland and I appreciate how they invested their time to get to know me and gave me the honor to explore their beautiful home.
highlights and challenges in switzerland
Exploring was as much of an agenda as work. My best travelling experiences were in Geneva and Lugano. At work, the biggest highlights were the meetings I had with different colleagues and superiors, either for work-related discussions or catch-up sessions. It was always interesting to meet in a group or individually and interact.
Living in Switzerland was not a challenge as I had people around me ready to assist every time. The only challenge was adjusting minor tendencies like walking on the right side of the road because it is quite the opposite in Namibia and Zimbabwe.
My future plans
As I go back to Namibia, I wish to complete my studies whilst searching for other internships or job opportunities to gain more experience preferably in Compliance and apply what I have learnt.
Personal message
The internship has been life changing. I have had the best memories of my life. I met new people, made friends and it is indeed sad to part ways. In the future, I hope I will get more opportunities to participate in such international programs like B360 as they are not only an opportunity to learn and gain more exposure but also a chance to explore the world, make friends and create memories.
