Cooperation with university staff

Working together with the university staff of the NUST was an absolute pleasure. They were very open and happy to have me there. My uncertainties in terms of schedule and classes were discussed in a preparation workshop, we discussed and aligned the class content, we went for lunch together and I was supported with all my needs. The staff members attended my classes and we discussed certain topics and methods after class as well. I was amazed by their motivation, respect and support.

Collaboration with students

I had six different classes with the number of students ranging from 15 up to 80. The smaller classes were very nice for seminar-like exchange. The students asked many questions and we discussed challenges that they were aware of or that we have in our company. For the bigger groups this was more challenging but after a warm-up phase there was a lot of interaction. I felt a good connection to the students and included active parts in every lesson in order to avoid a pure front-of-class teaching experience. This worked out very well.

Impact and win-win

I look forward to staying in touch with the university department. First ideas about case studies for students have been discussed. This is a win-win for both parties. The students will work on industry cases and learn how to think solution oriented. Our company gets fresh thoughts and a new point of view on critical situations.

Memorable event

There were actually several events that I will keep in memory. I was very happy to attend the cultural festival 2019 at the NUST. The week-long festival contained concerts, dance shows, international cuisine and a beauty contest to elect Mr and Ms NUST. The motto was “Preserving Cultural Wealth for Future Generation” and I learned so much about the Namibian culture during these days. I got in contact with many students outside of the classroom. This really helped me to get a better understanding of the people and culture. Everybody was so nice and open. I will not forget this.

Personal message

I hope that I could share my passion for Supply Chain with the students and have an impact on their education. It took so little for me to come to Namibia but I had the feeling that the impact for the students was very big. Education is key for a good life and I am happy that I was given the chance to contribute with my knowledge. Thank you for this opportunity. I highly recommend this program to others.
