Update August 2022
Cautiously optimistic towards normality
Even though the Omicron virus - with all its variants continues to preoccupy us and the general world situation is a cause for concern, we are heading into the coming months with cautious optimism. With the following activities:
August-October: On August 2, we welcomed four Namibian students to Switzerland. Another one will follow on September 1. The five Bachelor students who are studying in the fields of biomedicine, chemistry, IT, food safety and accounting will complete their three months with our loyal and very valuable partners ZHAW and Zweifel Pomy-Chips and with our new partner company Motorex in Langenthal. For the first time, two students can also complete an internship at LGT Bank in Liechtenstein. LGT is an internationally actively private bank based in Liechtenstein that has actively supported B360 with expert assignments for several years. The five young Namibians will live with host families as usual. We wish those involved every success.
September-October: We are very happy that six volunteer B360 experts will finally be able to conduct the popular Career Starter Week (CSW) on site again.
They are:
Rita Becker and Silke Aschmann, who are running a pilot course at UNILUS, our new partner university in Zambia.
Karusha Moonsamy and Matteo Veriani from Roche and Cathrin Kratzla from LGT as well as Thomas Weber from LGT Capital Partners, who is participating as a private person, are running the courses at NUST in Windhoek. Good luck!
September: The candidates will be recruited for the internships in Switzerland in the 1st semester 2023. This important process will be conducted by Sabina Balmer together with representatives of NUST and UNZA. More to follow.
Since spring our new Job Search Support pilot project is running. Students who have completed the Career Starter Course with an outstanding performance, are actively supported by mentors in their job search. Currently, seven Namibian graduates are being mentored.
We hope that we will be able to implement our program as planned. Please keep your fingers crossed for us and stay tuned. We thank you.
Best regards,
B360 Team
