B360 annual event
The B360 annual event took place on June 26. We welcomed around 140 guests to Sihlberg Castle in surprisingly summery weather.
The theme of the evening was "The whole is more than the sum of its parts". At the presentation, the speakers impressively demonstrated that this is completely true for B360.
Charmaine Jansen, lecturer at the Namibia University of Science and Technology NUST and a key contact person for B360, shared her experiences with experts in the program Southbound and spoke about the impact of the program Northbound on her students.
Dominique Remund from Bank Julius Baer gave an impressive account of how the partnership with B360 has developed and emphasized the "return on investment" for the bank. Julius Baer has been taking on interns for several years and sees this as an enrichment for all parties involved.
The Virtual Interns 2023 then made their grand entrance. As part of their virtual internship, they won the Special Award, a 2-week trip to Switzerland funded by the Staub Kaiser Foundation. During the interview - conducted by B360 Vice President Peter Schmuki - Cynthia Chipango, Mpimpa Hamasaka, Tawanda Mpepoimba, Plaxides Namutami, Thandiwe Pandala and Zubeda Yusuf talked about their experiences, what they had learned and what successes the internship had brought.
Mukuka Mulenga, President of the B360 alumni organization in Zambia, talked about his Northbound internship in 2014. He was the first B360 intern from Zambia a decade ago and was able to use the experience as a real stepping stone. Today, he is an important part of the program South-South.
Sabina Balmer, B360 founder and president, led through the presentation and concluded with an outlook on B360's upcoming activities. A short film by Fee Liechti about the activities of the last 12 months rounded off the official part of the evening and provided a nice link to the culinary and convivial part with a lively exchange of ideas and enjoyment of the summer evening.
