Update November 2023
Update end of November 2023
Before we prepare for the upcoming Holiday Season and the turn of the year, we would like to briefly summarize what happened at B360 in the second half of 2023.
Northbound: Seven NUST students started their three-month internships at Motorex AG, LGT Bank Zurich and Liechtenstein, Zweifel Pomy-Chips AG, ZHAW and Bank Julius Bär AG on August 1 and September 1 respectively. All of them successfully completed their internships and returned to Namibia at the end of October and November. We are grateful and relieved that all 17 internships, which we were able to offer in 2023, took place without any significant incidents. Read the reports HERE.
Southbound: The two Career Starter Weeks, which were carried out in June/July as a pilot project in cooperation with Bank Windhoek and with two volunteer experts from LGT Bank, brought positive results. Read the report of Bank Windhoek HERE. The program will be continued in Namibia in 2024.
In August, two B360 experts conducted two Career Starter Weeks with students from UNILUS in Zambia. All participants were able to complete the program with the B360 certificate. Read the experts' report HERE.
Virtual Internships: For the first time, six UNILUS students and graduates had the opportunity to complete a virtual internship at partner companies in Switzerland (Scenario X (2), B360, Global People Transitions, bob Finance and Credit Suisse). The second part included a two-month physical internship at ZICTA (Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority) in Lusaka. We are particularly pleased that all six participants qualified for the Special Award. This is awarded by the Staub Kaiser Foundation for outstanding achievements. Read the reports HERE.
Virtual Volunteering: 17 B360 experts accompanied and supported 17 young Namibians as part of the B360 Job Search Support Mentoring Program.
South-South: Around 70 guests accepted Sabina Balmer's invitation to the 1st Networking Event in Lusaka on August 17. A very positive sign and an important step in the right direction for everyone involved.
We are very pleased with the results achieved - but we are aware that these are only possible thanks to the support and commitment of you, our partners in the North and South, the alumni, our experts, the volunteers and our donors.
We thank you very much for this.
Best regards
Sabina Balmer and team
