Update October 2022

Four premieres, one record and a lot of good news

Northbound program - two premieres:

For the first time, a student from Namibia is able to complete an internship at Motorex in Langenthal (Sept 1 to Nov 27). LGT Bank in Liechtenstein has also provided B360 with two internships for students from Namibia for the first time (Aug 2 to Oct 27). Two more students from Namibia got the opportunity for their internship with our loyal partners Zweifel Pomy-Chips and ZHAW. For all five, host families, which are essential for the program, could also be found. So far, the experiences and feedback from all sides have been very positive.

A record

If everything goes well, 10 students from Namibia and Zambia will come to Switzerland for a three-month internship at the end of January. The selection of the candidates from NUST was made by Sabina Balmer during her visit to Namibia in September. The candidates of the partner university UNZA in Zambia, on the other hand, were selected via Zoom interviews together with the partner companies.

Southbound program - a premiere in Zambia...

Rita Becker and Silke Aschmann, traveled to Zambia, where they conducted the first Career Starter Week (CSW) workshops at the University of Lusaka (UNILUS) from September 9 to 22. The pilot project at our second partner university in Zambia was met with great interest and enthusiasm by students as well as local teams - the reports are positive and encouraging! The local B360 alumni Rabecca Hatoongo, Joseph Mwansa and Isaac Bwacha contributed to the success of the project with all their work and great commitment.

… and an additional one in South Africa!

In November the virtual B360 Job Search and Interview Training course will also be held at TSiBA in Cape Town for the first time. We are very happy that TSiBA, our partner university in South Africa, is again actively on board.

Successful assignments in Namibia

In September, two experienced professionals were at the Namibia University of Science and Technology NUST in Windhoek, where they conducted two Career Starter Week (CSW) workshops as a team of two. They are: Karusha Moonsamy (Cape Town) and Matteo Veriani (Basel), both Roche employees.

Here is an excerpt from their mission report:

"It was really fantastic to watch the development of the students. It was very clear to see that the people who started the course were not the same people who finished it.”

In October, Cathrin Kratzla LGT Liechtenstein and Thomas Weber from LGT Capital Partners (who has volunteered as a private person) additionally are at NUST and are jointly holding two Career Starter Week (CSW) workshops.

"One alone cannot carry a roof" (African proverb)

We thank everyone - in the North and in the South, upfront and behind the scenes - for their support as well as their great commitment and look forward to our continued collaboration.

Best regards
