My Experience Working at bob Finance as a Data Analyst Intern
I worked on a variety of data-driven projects involving client demographics, loan information, credit scores, and sales channels during my three-month virtual internship as a data analyst at bob Finance. As part of my duties, I had to analyse big datasets and produce visualizations for stakeholders using different types of charts. Confession: It was difficult to learn a new programming language, but I was able to finish my projects effectively with the help of my company mentors.
Teamwork and Mentoring
I had the honour of working with two experienced mentors, Olaf Haase and Björn Scheiwiller, who patiently gave me advice and insightful criticism. Reto von Arx, my B360 coach, regularly inquired about my wellbeing and progress. The experience was enhanced by the team's collaboration, even if they were geographically dispersed. We were able to discuss issues, celebrate successes, and share ideas through virtual meetings. Furthermore, collaborating with my fellow interns from different companies fostered a positive atmosphere where we could encourage one another.
Highlights and Difficulties
My first virtual job and working with a multicultural team, which expanded my viewpoint and enhanced my communication abilities, is my ultimate highlight. The B360 networking event and the cultural exchange seminars were very enjoyable, as they enabled me to broaden my professional network.
However, obstacles like electricity outages forced me to adjust and prepare ahead of time. While making data visualizations, I also ran into coding errors, which put my problem-solving abilities to the test. In the end, these challenges improved my technical proficiency and fortitude.
Future Plans
My interest in data analytics and visualization has grown stronger as a result of this internship. I intend to keep honing my technical abilities, investigate fresh approaches to analytics, and support data-driven decision-making in a range of sectors going forward.
Appreciation and Guidance
I express my sincere gratitude to the Staub Kaiser Foundation, Sabina Balmer, Karen Mueller, and all the B360 experts for this opportunity. I would especially like to thank my colleagues and mentors for their unwavering support. Future interns should view obstacles as teaching opportunities and work freely with others because the best results come from a team effort.
