At Work
During my internship at Zweifel Pomy Chips AG, my mentor, Hadassa Binggeli, provided guidance, Marco Blumenthal served as my supportive line manager and host, and Ioanna Makri was my immediate supervisor throughout this enriching experience. I had the privilege of working in the Quality Management Department. The core of my internship revolved around two vital projects: analysing the fat content in Truffle-flavoured chips and determining the salt content in Paprika-flavoured chips. These projects introduced me to advanced analytical techniques and the utilization of Near Infrared Spectroscopy Devices. Throughout my work, I had the privilege of closely collaborating with my dedicated team. They were responsible for creating and implementing meticulous quality control procedures, conducting rigorous tests on both raw materials and finished products, closely monitoring production processes for enhancements, addressing customer complaints, and ensuring strict compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 regulations.
Their dedication to maintaining high-quality products and food safety standards was evident, providing me with valuable insights into the meticulous processes required to uphold product excellence in the food industry.
Host Family
Living with my Swiss host family provided me with a unique perspective on everyday life in Switzerland. I fully embraced Swiss customs and immersed myself in the daily activities of a typical Swiss household. Our shared dinner times were particularly memorable, offering warmth, laughter, and lively conversations about Swiss lifestyles and dreams. The experience of being part of their family allowed me to truly appreciate Swiss traditions and daily routines. The impact of this homestay experience left a lasting impression, and I am sincerely thankful for their warm hospitality and the cultural insights they shared.
Highlights and Challenges in Switzerland
My time in Switzerland and its neighbouring countries was marked by numerous unforgettable experiences and breathtaking landscapes. Some of the notable places I have explored include Bern, Zurich, Rhine Falls, Schaffhausen, Luzern, Interlaken, Aareschlucht, Geneva, Lugano and many more. Excursion trips to Basel's Biolytix laboratory, as well as visits to Zermatt and Milano, Italy, added to the richness of my journey. Exploring nearby countries like Austria, Germany, and Liechtenstein enhanced my cultural understanding.
While this experience was inspiring and educational, I faced language barriers which demanded patience and adaptability. Balancing work commitments with personal life occasionally proved to be demanding, but these challenges were essential for my personal growth and adaptability.
My Future Plans
As I look forward to the future, my plans include pursuing further education in sustainable energy systems at Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), where I am currently enrolled. Simultaneously, I aspire to explore employment opportunities that align with my career goals. My ultimate aspiration is to become a Port Health Officer and contribute positively to the development of homeland, Namibia.
