Zweifel Pomy-Chips AG is the leading producer of chips and salted snacks in Switzerland. The family-owned company was founded in Spreitenbach, Kanton Aargau in 1958 and has been known ever since for its first-class quality products and its innovative spirit.

My internship period at Zweifel Pomy-Chips gained me experience on how to adapt to a new working environment and to work with people from other different countries with different cultures. It helped me apply the theory that I had learned in school, especially in the area of food safety, into practices, which expanded my practical skills. I have gained a good teamwork spirit, administration skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills and time management skills, just to mention a few, that helped me to prepare for the industry in the future.

I had a great time with the Blumenthal family and it was a pleasure to stay with them. They have always been there to give me support and assistance when I needed it. I was privileged to stay with my manager as my host father, as he has been always there to guide me, which built our relationship much better. I learned much about Swiss culture, lifestyle and their different ways of doing things. However, not only did I learn from their culture, but also it was a win-win situation for all, because they also learned much about my culture and how we do things in our country.

My host family Blumenthal were loving, caring and supportive, considerate and honest people. I couldn’t have asked for a better family to stay with. They once told me “We always want to see you happy”, and surely, I was having a happy life throughout the entire internship period. We had several trips whereby we visited various tourist attractions and other interesting places around Switzerland and to nearby countries such as France and Germany. I always played soccer with the children after dinner and most importantly, we watched a live football match at FC Basel stadium and it was one of my best moments.
